Iraqi Refugee Slain in Stockholm Amid Controversy

In Sweden, Iraqi refugee Sultan Mumika was killed, who reportedly burned and desecrated the Quran, provoking anger in the Muslim world. Police, the court, and local media confirmed his murder in his apartment in Stockholm. Mumika, an Iraqi activist, held protests in the summer of 2023, during which he burned copies of the Quran, provoking outrage both in the Arab world and in the West. This led to Swedish diplomats being summoned from certain countries. The Iraqi refugee was previously charged with incitement against a specific racial group. In February of last year, the Swedish immigration court agreed to his deportation, and in March he announced that he had left Sweden for Norway to apply for asylum there.
