Duplantis Breaks World Record for 15th Time

Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis broke the world record for the 15th time in his career, clearing 6.31 meters on his first attempt in front of his home crowd in Uppsala. The 26-year-old, a two-time Olympic champion and four-time world champion, continues his habit of breaking world records, which began when he surpassed French vaulter Renaud Lavillenne's mark of 6.17 meters in 2020. Duplantis's previous record was 6.30 meters, set when he won the world title in Tokyo last September. The Swede had not lost a competition in nearly three years, but this was the first time he broke the world record at the 'Mondo Classic' meet in Uppsala. Before an applauding crowd, Duplantis took a victory lap wrapped in the Swedish flag after achieving his 38th consecutive victory in a streak that began in the summer of 2003. After setting the new record, addressing the crowd, Duplantis said: 'This is my home. You know that every time I'm on the track, I represent you. That's just how things are. And I do it with all my pride.'
