The Police urged those nearby to seek shelter while students sought protection in nearby buildings and some areas of the school were evacuated. According to the Associated Press, the perpetrator committed suicide at the scene after the attack.

Official information indicated that four injured people were hospitalized, although the severity of the injuries has not yet been confirmed. The Police described the incident as 'attempted murder, arson, and aggravated offenses with weapons' and stated that the investigation is ongoing. The Minister of Justice, Gunnar Strömmer, expressed his concern about the events and assured that the Government is in close contact with the police authorities.
