Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden and Minister of Energy and Industry, Eba Busch, warned that Sweden could become a priority target for the United States after Greenland due to its mineral resources. While explaining the need to boost the mining industry, Busch stated that mineral resources might attract US President Donald Trump, making Sweden a priority target for him after Greenland. "I want Sweden to be hard to reach, and for leaders like Donald Trump to face greater difficulties in trying to control Sweden," she added. According to Busch, rare earth metals are a crucial part of modern technology, and Sweden possesses seven of the seventeen types of such metals on its territory. The minister also mentioned that the Swedish government plans to introduce a "more radical" strategy for the mining sector, focusing on enhancing supply security and Sweden's independence. "We need to start thinking more radically, considering that the US is now invading specific countries and declaring control over everything," she emphasized. Recall that yesterday, Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson stated that the Trump administration's stance on Greenland "creates a state of uncertainty within NATO." As reported today by Russian news agency Sputnik, the Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden added: "Therefore, we must decide for ourselves how to manage our resources."
