The Swedish company Northvolt, one of the largest battery manufacturers for electric vehicles, has presented plans to build a large factory in Germany. The new plant will be located in the town of Brandenburg and is expected to start production in 2024. Northvolt already has several production lines in Sweden, and the new facility will specialize in the production of lithium-ion batteries.
It is noted that building the factory requires investments of over a billion euros, and it will be capable of producing batteries for approximately 500,000 vehicles annually. This will mean the creation of around 3,000 jobs in the region. In addition to battery production, the company also plans to develop research in the field of recycling and refurbishing old batteries.
"We want to establish a new standard for environmentally sustainable battery production here. This new plant will be a key link for our development and will help us continue the fight to reduce carbon emissions," noted one of the leaders of Northvolt.
