Parliamentarians from Sweden and Estonia seek to eliminate funding for the Cuban regime. The Secretary General of the ARC, Orlando Gutiérrez-Boronat, was received in the Swedish Parliament by a delegation of legislators from various parties.
During the meeting, the importance of ending international support for the Cuban regime through the suspension of all forms of funding was discussed. The parliamentarians expressed their concern over human rights violations in Cuba and the repression against civil society and political opponents.
"It is essential that the international community takes concrete actions to pressure the Cuban regime and put an end to its ongoing violations of human rights," emphasized Gutiérrez-Boronat. In this regard, it was agreed to work on legislative proposals that contribute to limiting the flow of funding to the Cuban government.
Swedish and Estonian legislators reaffirmed their commitment to the defense of human rights and democracy in Cuba, as well as their support for civil society and efforts to promote a change towards freedom and democracy on the island.
