On Tuesday, the Swedish Police (Espibo) announced the conduct of a large-scale operation as part of the fight against copyright infringements. As part of this operation, around 44 servers were found in Sweden, which were used for illegal downloading and distribution of films, TV shows, and music.
The police reported that the operations took place in various locations across the country, including Stockholm, Uppsala, Karlstad, Vasteras, and Lunde. They added that this type of crime infringes the rights of copyright holders and can also have significant economic consequences on a massive scale of millions of crowns.
"We see that this criminal activity is becoming increasingly complex as technology develops. We must adapt our methods to address this challenge," said Klaus Ellinger, police commissioner.
