Sweden Condemns Trump's Threats Against Greenland and Denmark

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson sharply criticized on Sunday the 'language of threats' against Greenland and Denmark from the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump. Kristersson stated in his speech that the existing rules-based international order is under greater threat than it has been in decades. 'We strongly condemn what the United States is doing now and what it did in Venezuela regarding international law, and perhaps even more condemn the speech directed against Greenland and Denmark,' he added at the annual security conference in northern Sweden. Earlier, Trump said the U.S. needs to own Greenland to prevent Russia or China from occupying it in the future. He has repeatedly said that Russian and Chinese ships are operating near Greenland, which Nordic countries deny. 'The United States, instead, should thank Denmark, which has been a loyal ally for many years,' he added.
