Sweden's Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, expressed his solidarity with those whose educational routine was disrupted by the act of violence in Örebro. According to police information, at least five people were injured in a shooting that occurred at an adult education center in that city, located west of Stockholm.
The local police chief, Roberto Eid Forest, mentioned that among the injured is the alleged shooter. Although some media report multiple fatalities and injuries, the police have not confirmed this information. Four of the injured were subjected to surgery and are in different health conditions.
Authorities are keeping the investigation open and have begun evacuating nearby schools as a precautionary measure. Despite erroneous information circulating, the police clarified that no officers were injured during the ongoing operation.
The local hospital has reorganized its services to care for the injured, and the police are treating the case as attempted murder, arson, and serious weapons offenses. The affected school, Campus Risbergska, is an adult education center that had fewer students than usual at the time of the shooting due to the end of exams.
Amid the shock of the incident, the Prime Minister added: "Today is a very painful day for all of Sweden."
